The Amazon Netherlands website had only been available in Dutch since its launch in 2014. In March 2020, the webshop’s assortment was substantially expanded but only now has an English option been offered.
Amazon Netherlands is now available in English. The local webshop, which launched in November 2014, sold only e-books for the first 5 years it was live. Expats in Holland looking for anything other than that category ended up on Amazon Germany, and could even take advantage of a Prime membership specifically for shoppers living in the Netherlands.
The Amazon Germany website added an English-language option around the same time and not long after, added a Dutch option as well.
Nearly 5.5 years after first going live, Amazon Netherlands finally expanded into a full(er) webshop in March 2020. Customers with Prime memberships through Amazon Germany could transfer it to Amazon Netherlands and at a lower cost… €2.99/month vs. €5.99/month. You can trial Amazon Prime free for 30 days.
The only drawback for many was going from an Amazon site available in English (amazon.de) to one only available in Dutch (amazon.nl). At least that was the case until 22 January 2021 when Amazon.nl became available in English.
