Expats looking for Netherlands outlet shopping centers can find information below, including Dutch webshops that sell discounted merchandise (clothing, shoes, home decor, electronics).
If you are new to Holland and moved from a country where outlet shopping centers are readily available (such as in the United States), you may be surprised how few there are here in the Netherlands.
NETHERLANDS OUTLET MALLS
There are four outlet shopping centers in the Netherlands, two in the north and two in the south:
Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet is located in the city of Lelystad, approximately 50 minutes north east of Amsterdam. There are roughly 150 stores from both Dutch and international brands such as Adidas, Calvin Klein, Chasin’, Claudia Strater, Esprit, G-Star, Manfield, Michael Kors, Only, POLO, Skechers and Suit Supply. There is non-stop coach service which departs Amsterdam (Cruise Port) in the morning and returns in the late afternoon.
Designer Outlet Roermond is located approximately 45 minutes south east of Eindhoven. The mall has 185 shops including premium international brands such as 7 for All Mankind, Armani, Burberry, Chloe, Jimmy Choo, Coach, Gucci, Lacoste, Longchamp, Moncler and Prada.
Designer Outlet Rosada is a smaller center (85 shops) located in Roosendaal, west of Breda and south of Rotterdam. The retail assortment is skewed heavily toward Dutch brands (America Today, Expresso, Jeans Centre, Marlies Dekkers, Sandwich_, Van Gils) and athletic strongholds (Adidas, Asics, Nike, Puma).
Amsterdam the Style Outlets is a new outlet center in North Holland. It is located between Amsterdam and Haarlem and can be reached by Sprinter train (stop ‘Halfweg’). It is smaller than the other three with approximately 50 brands represented including Karl Lagerfeld, G-star RAW, Guess, Van Gils, Adidas, Nike, Bjorn Borg, S.Oliver, Sunglass Hut and Le Creuset.
HOLLAND OFF-PRICE RETAIL STORES
German-based Dress-for-Less is one of the largest off-price online retailers in Europe. The dedicated Netherlands website even has an English-language option. AFound is an off-price retailer introduced by the Swedish Hennes&Maurits Group. The Netherlands was the first country (outside Sweden) to get AFound which operates primarily online. An AFound physical store was open for a limited time in the Hoog Catherijne mall (Utrecht) to build brand awareness. The Dutch webshop sells marked-down merchandise from other Hennes&Maurits retail divisions (i.e. Arket, H&M, COS, & other stories, Weekday) plus items from other brands such as Diesel, Fred Perry, Hugo Boss and Michael Kors.
Popular Dutch designer brand Scotch & Soda operates an online outlet in the Netherlands. Registration (which is free) is required before you are able to access the webshop.
TK Maxx is the European subsidiary of TJX, the world’s largest off-price retailer. The chain opened its first store in Holland in 2015 and currently has 13 stores in the Netherlands including locations in Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam, Eindhoven and Groningen.
