Outlet shopping in the Netherlands can be difficult, with only 3 remotely located outlet centers (Roermond, Batavia Stad and Rosada). Online outlet shops are easier to access which you can see below…
Expats that move to Holland from other countries where outlet shopping is heavily integrated into the retail environment (such as the United States) will be disappointed with the selection offered here. As many expats rely on public transport to get around, visiting any of the options will take an average of 1.5 hours by train and longer by bus.
Shoppers flock to outlet centers in search of all types of products… discount designer apparel, shoes, handbags, accessories, athletic footwear, fashion boots, coats, premium denim, jewelry, watches, cosmetics, fragrances, personal electronics, home furnishings, bed sheets, comforter sets, bath towels, televisions, media players, appliances and sporting goods, just to name a few.
There are a handful of international off-price retail chains with stores in the Netherlands, including TK Maxx (locations in Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam, Eindhoven) and Saks Off 5th (locations in Amsterdam and Rotterdam), but neither off local web shops which you can purchase from. The latter operates a web shop in the United States which does shop to the Netherlands.
There are several reasons why it can be difficult to operate an online web shop selling discounted merchandise on a large scale: 1) the low-cost merchandise they buy from suppliers is usually what is left at the end of a season, which means sizes may be missing or the products are only available in high fashion colors rather than staples like black, white or brown, 2) designer brands often stipulate when selling their broken lots that their name cannot be used in advertising if the ad is off-price.
But this is not to say there is no online outlet shopping available to those living in the Netherlands. Here are some websites offering designer and branded merchandise at substantially discounted or closeout prices.
